Name: Barrington Area Council on Aging 6000 Garland Lane (847) 381-5030 Description: BACOA serves seniors, family caregivers and the community. We serve as a clearinghouse of information on aging services, provide service coordination, identify service gaps and needs and advocate to meet those needs. Primary services include information assistance, in-home assessment visits, newsletter, senior lunch and activity program. Barrington Area Meals with Wheels Program, monthly caregiver groups support, Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes, low vision and Alzheimer's support groups, Parkinsons Education and Support Group and Medicare Prescription Part D consultations. Circuit Breaker forms are available. Circuit Breaker offers relief from property taxes, rent or nursing home charges for qualifying seniors and disabled persons. We also coordinate AARP tax assistance February - April 15th each year. You may also be eligible for Pharmaceutical Assistance and vehicle license discount. Primary Services:
General Information Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Intake Process: The Meals with Wheels program reguires an in-home assessment by a BACOA social services staff person. As well as a Physicain approval for client to receive meals. Program Fees: The majority of the social services provided are free - though donations are accepted. Languages: English Eligibility: Services are targeted to seniors and families living in or concerned about a person living in the Barrington area.
